What the body is for

"I know you have been wondering where we are all going." Panel 1: A closed lily ready to bloom. Panel 2: The lily is open wide. Panel 3: The lily is drooping and faded. Panel 4: The lily is gone.
"I know. you have been wondering when we will arrive" Image of a new, smaller lily that has grown up where the previous one disappeared.

That same patch is now empty. No more flowers, just grass. The same moon shines overhead.
"Here we are, in our bodies, in the world. I am so glad you are here." Two figures stand silhouetted in the rain, looking up, as water pools at their feet.

"In the morning the sun is warm on my face. In the evening the wine is warm in my chest." Image of a sun in a clear sky and a wine glass. The wine inside is red, which is the first non-blue color to appear in the series.

"How far is it to where we are going, and when will we get there, and what will we have to leave behind?" Two figures embrace. Image of the same exterior at night with lit window from the previous comic.
"What will it cost? Everything." Animated image of rolling waves.
"How can it be that we are all sacred, and we are all dying?" A blossoming mess of lilies are blooming in half the panels. In the other half, those same lilies are wilting.
A pile of dust or ashes gradually blows away.
"I'm tired of waiting." A full moon is hidden behind clouds, then revealed in a clear, dark sky.
"I keep eating these rotten grapes, even though they make me sick." A cloudy night sky. A hand grabs a single dripping, over-ripe grape. Soft and rotting grapes spill out of a bowl.

"It feels like it has always been winter." Dense snow falls outside a window, accumulating on the windowsill. A single lily plant grows and begins to flower.
"But I have heard there is light, asleep in the ground." A thick layer of snow covers the soil. In the soil, we can see delicate roots stretching down.
Thick snow melts, revealing a branch emerging from the ground. Clouds disperse, revealing a sun in the sky.
"Unless a seed falls from the ground and dies, it stays alone. But if it dies, it produces much fruit." Two hands hold a goblet filled with red wine. The hands lift the goblet, then suddenly drop it. The wine falls through the air. The fourth panel i

"Every worthwhile thing requires sacrifice." Hands hold a red lily about to blossom, then we see the hands holding a lily in full blossom. The same lone seed in the soil, then we see that seed split in two.
The seed is breaking apart in the soil. Hands hold a lily that is wilted and shriveled. The same bush or plant from two comics ago has grown massive, with huge amounts of leaves and roots. It is becoming a tree.
"There is a new warmth in my body." The same sky and exterior window we have seen before, but now they are filled with the shocking bright colors of sunrise, bright pink and red.
"There is an old light in the world." A budding red flower grows up through thick snow.
"Some days I am a gaping wound. Who will heal the world?" Heavy snow falls, filling up the panels. In panel four, a sudden shock of pink and red visible through a window.

"We are all radiant and we are all dying" Panel 1: Hands hold the same bright red lily we saw before. Panel 2: Silhouette of a person in red and pink. Panel 3: Empty whiteness. Panel 4: The same silhouette, but now the silhouette is a white emptiness
"Your body is good, and, your body is dying. And," The same woman floating in water that we saw before, but now the sky and the woman are both a shocking bright pink.
"Your body will rise again." The bush or tree has now grown absolutely massive, filling all four panels.
"How dark is it at the bottom of the sea, where there is no moon?" A dark and deep red wave fills most of the panels. Two hands rise out of that dark red, holding the same bright red wineglass as before.
Panel 1: "I thirst." Panel 2: The hands drop the wineglass. Panel 3: Bright red wine and glass are splattered everywhere. Panel 4: Darkness.
"The night is long. I am always sleeping. But I find no rest." Everything is a dark, deep red. The splattered wine and broken glass stretch across the floor. A very thin sliver of moon is visible.
"I wait for day." The sky gradually brightens. A narrow sliver of pink cloud is visible.
"I wait for day." A single image fills all four panels: An animated image of light reflecting off the ocean. The ocean is bright red. The sun is in the center of the image. The sky is streaked in the pink, red, and blue of sunrise.
